Miguel Guillen, Information Services Manager for Artist Trust, will discuss the essentials of presenting your work; how to get informed about the funding and exhibition possibilities available to Washington State artists; and information on professional resources, health care, insurance, emergency assistance, and legal services available to artists. Miguel will also present information about Artist Trust's grant programs, information services, and the EDGE Professional Development Program for visual artists.

Monica Miller, Artist Trust's Director of Programs, will present information on how to apply for grants successfully. The workshop will give tips on preparing a strong grant application, including "dos and don'ts" for work samples, artist résumés, project proposals, and more. Artist Trust's Grants for Artist Projects (GAP) application will be used as an example and guide. The workshop will also share insider’s knowledge about panel and selection processes.

Evolving your arts business begins with articulating goals that are ambitious, inspirational and accomplishable.  You will learn how to use coaching tools that provide a foundation to the strategic planning process, keeping it grounded and solution-focused.

This workshop will cover:

Artists and creative entrepreneurs who take CCI’s signature program, Business of Art ™ learn key business skills that provide them with the knowledge and resources to help advance their art, develop their ideas and increase their financial independence. Business of Art ™ classes are taught by a variety of business leaders with experience in both corporate and non-profit entities. Students learn key concepts involved in goal setting, strategic planning, marketing and self-promotion, money management, legal issues and project financing.

This weekend-long event will include sessions to help South Carolina artists in their artistic practice, in their personal lives, in their communities, and in their businesses. And, there will also be many opportunities to network with fellow artists from around the state.
