Miguel Guillen, Artist Resources Manager for Artist Trust, will discuss the essentials of presenting your work; how to get informed about the funding and exhibition possibilities available to Washington State artists; and information on health care, insurance, emergency assistance, and legal services available to artists. Miguel will also present information about Artist Trust's grant programs, professional resources, and the EDGE Professional Development Program for visual artists.

Monica Miller, Artist Trust's Director of Programs, will present information on how to apply for grants successfully. The workshop will give tips on preparing a strong grant application, including "dos and don'ts" for work samples, artist résumés, project proposals, and more. Artist Trust's Grants for Artist Projects (GAP) application will be used as an example and guide. The workshop will also share insider’s knowledge about panel and selection processes.

The Hyde Park Art Center presents a lunch-time discussion on the topic “Women in the Arts.” From various walks of the artistic spectrum, these dynamic women discuss the triumphs, challenges and rewards of their chosen professions. Invited guests include painter and collage artist Mary Lou Zelazny and writer and professor Nnedi Okorafor. Visitors are welcome to bring a sack lunch.
