Expanding Your Income Stream: The Ins and Outs of Licensing Your Art

Posted by linda_park,

Artists often understand the concept of licensing their artwork but few understand the business side of the equation.  They don’t always know where to learn about the details, tools and resources of the licensing world.  Join us for a fact-filled two-hour workshop on how to best represent yourself and your art in the licensing arena from two industry leaders in art licensing.

Elise Rosenthal is both well-versed and well-educated in the arts. In addition to her nearly 26 years of hands-on experience in the business of commercial artist representation, she holds a Masters of Art & Education from Stanford University, A Bachelor’s degree from Queens College, New York, and 30 credits of post-graduate work at New York University towards her doctorate. Elise also taught art in the NYC School system for 10 years. Her ability to art direct and to match-make are her fortes; highly skilled in sourcing, and communicating with a wide range of personalities, she is adept at developing meaningful projects for, and relationships between, clients and product makers that instinctively work well together. Rosenthal is a member of Women in Design, Women in Toys, The Graphic Artist’s Guild, The Society of Illustrators, and LIMA (Licensing Industry & Merchandising Association).

Neil Sandler offers more than 20 years of intensive experience in the areas of sales, marketing, licensing and artists representation. An easygoing manner and unfailing honesty, coupled with confidence, strength and total follow-through have made Neil successful in sales. His sincerity and curiosity enable him to effectively elicit people’s needs and capabilities. Sandler’s interest in sports, and extensive background and knowledge in the textiles, printing, entertainment and toy industries, greatly qualify him in areas of manufacturing. He launched an animation studio, The Animation Factory, with a partner in the Philippines, in 1990, working with a wide group of animators on projects that included the Ninja Turtles & Peter Pan, to produce superior quality entertainment for a number of years.
