In Massachusetts, LINC became active in that states health care reforms, working with a consortium of organizations including The Massachusetts Cultural Council and ArtistLink to improve the current legislation so it better suits the needs of artists and independent workers.
In California, LINC has teamed up with The Center for Cultural Innovation to create ArtistsUnitedForHealthCare.org, an advocacy website to educate artists about the current health care policy debates in California, and to mobilize artists, helping them to take an active role in this legislation process. CCI recently organized an Arts Town Hall meeting in Los Angeles to announce among other programs, ArtistsUnitedForHealthCare.org; over 800 participants attended including Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, along with numerous artists, arts advocates, policymakers and funders.
