LINC Welcomes Managing Director Candace Jackson
December 05, 2011
As previously announced in October, LINC Executive Director Judilee Reed has transitioned to a new role as Director of the Thriving Cultures program at the Surdna Foundation. Following an analysis of LINC’s remaining management needs, and an extensive executive search, LINC’s Board announced the appointment of Candace Jackson to the role of Managing Director, effective December 1, 2011:
Candace Jackson is an arts consultant specializing in organizational development, facilities management, human resource development and marketing. Prior to starting Candace Jackson Arts & Management (CJAM) Consulting, Candace served as Director of Operations for the Apollo Theater Foundation, Inc. During her tenure she managed the Apollo’s facilities and administrative operations, event logistics, and co-coordinated Phase I of the Apollo’s historic restoration project. Before her work at the Apollo, she was a program officer at the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone, where she managed the Cultural Industry Investment Fund, which provided capacity-building and sustainability support to over 50 arts and cultural groups. Her earlier managerial experience included positions with the Yale Repertory Theater in New Haven, CT, New Haven International Festival of Arts & Ideas in New Haven, CT, and the Alliance Theater in Atlanta. Candace earned an MFA in Theater Management from the Yale School of Drama, and a BFA in Theater Arts and Business Administration from Howard University. Candace is also a LEED Accredited Professional.
This transition marks the beginning of a new operational phase for LINC. The work ahead includes final analysis of the body of grantee projects, and producing new publications in partnership with teams from the University of Pennsylvania, the Urban Institute, and the Center for Creative Community Development (C3D) at Williams College.
