Creative Communities Project

Training and Professional Development:

The South Carolina Arts Commission (SCAC) is working with several community partners to provide training and professional development programs for artists in South Carolina. The first of such programs, FastTrac, is an intensive ten-week business development program created by the Ewing Marion Kaufman Foundation. In addition, SCAC is connecting artists to the Artist as an Entrepreneur Institute (AEI) in partnership with the Arts and Sciences Council (ASC) of Charlotte. Developed by Community Partnership for Arts and Culture (CPAC), AEI is designed to cultivate artists’ business skills through marketing, bookkeeping, and accounting courses. Artists who have completed both FastTrac and AEI will be eligible to apply to the Artist Ventures Program (AV), which invests in entrepreneurial projects developed by South Carolina artists. Selected projects will be part of a “virtual business incubator,” bringing participating artists together three to four times a year for peer-to-peer and expert review.
