Creative Communities Project

Planning phase:

LegalArt is engaged in a strategic planning process to sustain and expand its existing programs for artists in Miami. With support from LINC, three initiatives are currently under consideration: 
  • A grantmaking program providing material support, writing assistance, museum memberships, and art supplies to emerging Miami artists.
  • LegalLink, providing pro bono hours and clinics for artists through partnerships with the Dade County Bar Association and the University of Miami’s School of Law. Through this program artists gain vital resources that enable them to protect their work and empower their careers through learning about such topics as estate planning, family law, immigration, business law, real estate, taxes, copyright, and issues concerning contracts.
  • SeminArt, a customized series of lectures and workshops covering topics such as portfolio review, public speaking, grant writing, and financial planning.

LegalArt has dedicated itself to providing artists with affordable legal services, grants, and educational opportunities. By empowering artists with access to legal and professional support, resources, and information, LegalArt creates opportunities and protections for Miami’s art community, fostering a generation of artists who are armed with the skills to legally protect their creations. All LegalArt programming helps artists by creating a community both dedicated to and invested in their success.
