Areas of Activity
The LINC Creative Communities lead target initiatives in the following areas:
Knowledge & Information Networks for Artists & Arts Resource Organizations
LINC has always valued the development of thematic information resources and networks as a method for disseminating best practices in the field. Our Creative Communities are actively engaged in developing and nurturing these knowledge pipelines and networks across disciplines and geographies, which in turn provide a network for seeding and disseminating LINC-sponsored Research & Reports.
Training & Professional Development for Artists (TPD)
LINC recognizes that artists must be supported in gaining the knowledge, tools, and networks to build and maintain sustainable careers. The Creative Communities organizations have adopted and developed some of the most innovative curriculum for artist TPD in the field, and continue to build best practices as they exchange their real-time experiences and successes with their peers in the LINC cohort.
Demand & Market Development for Artists
LINC supports traditional and non-traditional community efforts to improve the demand, visibility, and opportunities for artists at the local, municipal, and regional level, and the markets across sectors that translate this demand into financial compensation.
Direct Support for Artists
Recognizing that large gaps in basic funding still exist for American artists, LINC continues to support those Creative Communities projects which provide direct financial and physical support services and grants to artists, while building new ways to engage donors.
Development of Live/Work Space for Artists
Access to affordable space plays a significant role in the ability of artists to produce artwork and to contribute to the fabric of communities. LINC works to support the development of space that addresses both the living and working needs of artists.
Health Insurance and Health Care for Artists
LINC continues to support and collaborate with partners to connect artists, craftspeople, and entertainment industry workers around the country to the evolving options for health insurance and affordable health care.
