"Artists U is a cooperative platform for helping performing artists with planning, long-term thinking, and problem-solving. Through monthly group meetings and biweekly one-on-one sessions with a facilitator, artists work to make their artistic and professional lives proactive rather than reactive. We come together as artists, as citizens, as friends to strengthen our work, our communities, our connections. Conceived and directed by Andrew Simonet, Artists U is hosted by the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival."
Grant Period: February 2005 – October 2012

Artists U
Artists U has received a $94,000 Challenge Grant to expand their offerings in Philadelphia, and to transplant the Artists U model to two new cities: Chicago and San Francisco. Expansion plans within Philadelphia include offering regular one-on-one planning sessions open to all artists, as well as targeted outreach efforts to artists who do not see themselves as part of the nonprofit world, such as graffiti artists, culturally-specific dance artists, and DJs.
