Participate in the Health Care Debate

The Actors Fund just launched Artists United for Health Care www.artistsunitedforhealthcare.org, a national artists’ health care reform website, in partnership with LINC and the Center for Cultural Innovation (CCI).

At Artists United for Health Care self-employed artists and individuals interested in the national debate around health care can:

  • Link to current news about the rapidly developing health care reform debate.
  • Identify existing local and national grass-roots organizations working for change.
  • Send letters to Congress and Senate representatives, and to editors of the press.
  • Find contacts for organizing and attending events and seminars.

Now more than ever, health care is a hot button issue, but determining where and how to get involved can be as elusive as deciphering health care options themselves. Over the last several weeks, many respondants to the Artists and the Recession Survey have communicated how important health care and health insurance is for them. On the pulse of artists’ needs, Artists United for Health Care has provided a single location through which artists can connect to resources and become active voices in this important debate. Since its inception, LINC has recognized the unique challenges artists face in gaining access to health care. Working in partnership with both the Actors’ Fund and CCI, LINC has been able to connect artists across the country with key information to address their health care needs.
